Giới thiệu
Lịch sử thành lập
Tiền thân của Game Studio South, là team thực hiện dự án T812 (Thuận Thiên Kiếm) của công ty Vinagame. Lúc này, GSS được biết đến với cái tên T812 team, được chính thức thành lập vào ngày 12 tháng 08 năm 2006, với mục tiêu xây dựng một game MMORPG mang nội dung Việt đầu tiên cho Việt Nam.
Vào ngày 1 tháng 1 năm 2007, BGĐ VNG chính thức quyết định đổi tên T812 team thành Game Studio South (GSS), khai sinh GSS trong cơ cấu bộ phận của Vinagame và ngành công nghiệp game Việt Nam. Với mục tiêu mới là không chỉ có dự án T812, GSS sẽ chịu trách nhiệm phát triển thêm nhiều game khác, mục tiêu phấn đấu đến năm 2013, số game nội địa của GSS làm ra chiếm 50% số game phát hành thành công của VNG.
Ngoài ra, nhằm chuẩn hóa công việc bản địa hóa game, những công việc bản địa hóa game trước đây đã được chuyển giao về GSS.

Cho đến nay, GSS có 3 chức năng nhiệm vụ sau:

o Bản địa hóa game
o Nghiên cứu và phân tích game
Phát triển game
Tự phát triển các game phù hợp với thị trường Việt Nam. Hiện tại, đang thực hiện 3 dự án là T812 (Thuận Thiên Kiếm), một game dạng MMORPG và 3 dự án bí mật khác đang được GSS thực hiện.
Bản địa hóa game
Ngoài nhiệm vụ tự phát triển, GSS đảm nhận Việt hóa các game do VNG mua về từ nước ngoài. Với các sản phâm đã làm qua như Cửu Long Tranh Bá, Chinh Đồ, Maple Story (Nấm Lùn), HotStep.
Bản địa hóa tại GSS bao gồm các việc liên quan về Kỹ thuật, Mỹ thuật, Nội dung.
Nghiên cứu và phân tích game
Thực hiện nghiên cứu, phân tích các ưu khuyết điểm các game trên thế giới, tìm ra các game hay để VNG mua về vận hành, đồng thời giúp GSS học hỏi thêm ở các game này, ứng dụng cho các game GSS tự phát triển.

Core team của GSS chủ yếu là các thành viên có nhiều năm học tập, làm việc tại nước ngoài như Hàn Quốc, Anh, Trung Quốc v.v… Trong đó, có nhiều thành viên có kinh nghiệm làm việc tại các game studio ở nhiều nước, cũng như kinh nghiệm vận hành game lâu năm tại thị trường Việt Nam.
