Mấy hôm trước mình có cập nhật clip Alizee – La Isla Bonita vào trong trang web , xem tốc độ rất mượt hình ảnh đẹp, thì ra là do Google đã đặt máy chủ ở Việt Nam cho Youtube rùi . Phen này thì clip.vn “mệt” với Google rùi ( không cải tiến chỉ có nước chết wá ).
Mình thì vẫn thích Youtube hơn vì Player của nó có nhiều màu sắc để lựa chọn và không nặng như Clip.vn 
. Ờ quên cái nửa Youtube còn cho phép xem clip với chất lượng cao “watch in high quality” xem phê mắt luôn
” Một cách thầm lặng, Google đã trang bị cho YouTube khá nhiều máy chủ tại Việt Nam. Người viết bài này đã thử xem ngẫu nhiên các clip thuộc nhiều lĩnh vực, tất cả đều nạp dữ liệu từ Việt Nam.
Trước đây, việc xem YouTube ở Việt Nam dường như là bất khả thi, khi cần đến hơn 10 phút để tải một đoạn phim chỉ dài 3 phút. Và bây giờ, cũng đoạn phim 3 phút đó, bạn thậm chí có thể xem ở chế độ chất lượng cao (HD) mà không cần đợi buffer. Đây là kết quả của việc khai thác các máy chủ đặt tại Việt Nam, tận dụng các đường cáp quang tốc độ cao trong nước.
Theo thử nghiệm, thì máy chủ của YouTube được đặt tại trung tâm dữ liệu của VDC, sử dụng IP trong dải 203.162.11/24. Các thành viên của một diễn đàn cho biết, dùng Internet của VDC hoặc FPT sẽ cho tốc độ rất nhanh, còn Viettel thì vẫn vào các máy chủ đặt tại Mĩ, nhưng tốc độ cũng đã được cải thiện nhiều.
Bạn có thể xem thử bài hát Hello Vietnam, hoặc xem lại trận Thái Lan – Việt Nam 1 – 2 hôm vừa rồi, để thử hiệu quả của việc đặt máy chủ tại Việt Nam. Tốc độ trên cả tuyệt vời!
Kĩ thuật “Edge Caching”
Kĩ thuật mà Google sử dụng là “Edge Caching”: đặt máy chủ cache ngay tại các ISP. Đây là một kĩ thuật đã được biết đến từ lâu, nhưng mới được Google triển khai từ tháng 7/2008 với hệ thống Google Global Cache (GGC). Đây cũng là cách TTCN sử dụng để che đi điểm yếu của việc đặt máy chủ tại nước ngoài.
